#33. Sarah Hopper

I want you to notice what Sarah has left OUT of this picture—two large elephant bodies. Believe me, it wasn’t so obvious that this was a good idea when Sarah was taking the picture. But getting in close on all the tangled trunks and tusks is what the picture is all about.

The texture comes alive when you get in closer like this and, boy, is there some texture! Also, for your black and white lovers, and I know there are many of you out there, the wrinkles and lines sing in black-and-white, don’t they? This is a truly great wildlife photograph, regardless of where it was taken. (It might be in a zoo, for all I know. If you haven’t been to one lately, I suggest going by yourself and celebrating the natural world with your camera. Great job, Sarah.
