15. Audrey Duguid

This is Pyramid Lake in the Alberta Rocky Mountains.

Under any circumstances it’s difficult to compete with the reflection of a mountain in a lake. It almost feels comical to try. But without the modest little canoe the mountain and the lake take a big hit. (Of course, the canoe without the mountain is also a step down.) Just notice how satisfying it is to have someplace for your eye to go. It’s as though the canoe is holding up the whole picture. It’s good to keep this in mind when ever you’re photographing something that’s extraordinarily beautiful by itself. Sometimes the most stunning natural or man made objects need something else. The problem is, I can’t tell what that is. You will know it when you see it, but you have to keep your eyes open. Beautiful landscape. Jealous.
