It’s mother/son organized chaotic fun. If you don’t want your camera hit with chunks of snow then you just better will move it because I am going to keep shoveling and throwing. Isn’t it fantastic the way his face isn’t blocked by any of the snow? When you shoot photographs like this—random action chaos—you need to shoot lots of photographs in the hopes that one of them is going to reveal that necessary face or whatever else is necessary. Also, from a lighting standpoint: much of the success of this picture is that it was taken on a cloudy day. Snow on a sunny day is a big mountain to climb. It can be really difficult and if there was direct sunlight on him and those chunks of snow it would be another level of difficulty—or luck required. Fantastic winter photograph, Faye.
