Election Day 2016

It’s obviously a big day here in our country. Don’t worry, I’m not going to get political, but I do want to say a couple of things about the election.

First, vote. As we waited to vote this morning my neighbor had tears in her eyes as she described this sacred act to my kids. I know you know this, but it’s always worth remembering that people have died for their right to get to the ballot box. That certainly puts waiting on line in perspective. This country is a gift.

But regardless of the result there are going to be millions of Americans in pain tomorrow. It’s important that the victors treat their opposition with respect and understanding and a willingness to listen. No one has ever made that point more eloquently than our greatest president.

If Lincoln can send this message to the country at the end of the Civil War than surely we can all be bigger than the anger and the pain we have all been feeling lately.

    Yes, Nick, whomever wins will be our President, and for that reason we should give him or her the respect and honor that the Office represents, whether it was your choice or not.
