We’re proud to announce the top three winners in the FOREVER Storytelling Photo Contest.

As the sole judge of this contest it became painfully obvious to me why many contests have multiple judges. This was difficult! So now, anyone who has a problem with the results has only me to hold responsible. So be it.

I suppose if I had a better sense of the dramatic I would wait till the end of this blog to announce the First Prize winner. But I don’t so here goes:

FIRST PRIZE (above) goes to JEANINE JAMES for her story “THE LONG DAY”. Jeanine wins a new Samsung NX500 camera (an $800 value and a truly sweet camera). Congratulations!

SECOND PRIZE goes to KELLI WATSON GOWDY for her story “HAIRCUTS”. Kelli wins her choice of a Nick Kelsh Photo Course—a $400 value.

Finally, THIRD PRIZE goes to GINGER THOMAS BENDALL for her story “LIFE GIVING WATER”. Ginger wins a Permanent FOREVER membership—a $350 value.

Perhaps the most difficult dilemma I faced as the judge for this contest was that there were several beautiful photo stories about childbirth submitted. Jeanine James’ First Prize winning entry went straight to the top because she chose an unusual point of view for her story. She documented the world-changing arrival of a new baby in the life of an older sibling. I found that to be delightful and original and for me it made the difference. I thought all of the childbirth stories were beautiful and eloquent in their own way and I want to salute them. They are:

Deb Elliott Johnson / FIRST GRANDCHILD

Kathy Murray / WHEN A CHILD IS BORN, PARENTS ARE TOO

Kris Sullivan / SCARLETT

Richelle Morris Thornton / AND BABY MAKES FOUR

Christine Terrey Bullock / AT FIRST GLANCE

And last but not least, if we had a T-shirt to give away it would certainly be awarded to our dear friend, TOM REESE. Tom’s original photo story, BEFORE AND AFTER NICK KELSH, giving me full credit for all his vast photographic talent deserves a heartfelt shout out. Tom, you touched us and made us laugh at the same time. You are a good friend. Too bad we don’t have any t-shirts. Maybe next time.
